He has written several books on magic, including Easy to Master Card Miracles, The Magic of Michael Ammar, and The Complete Cups and Balls. He has also released several instructional videos and DVDs. Michael Ammar was born on June 25, 1956 in Logan, West Virginia. He attended West Virginia University, where he studied psychology and philosophy. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in magic. Michael Ammar has been performing professionally since the age of 16. He has performed on television shows such as The Tonight Show, The Today Show, and The Late Show with David Letterman. Michael Ammar has many television credits. He was the magic week finale on Late Night with David Letterman in 2010. He has made multiple appearances on The Tonight Show. He moved to Los Angeles - where he became a regular performer at the Playboy Mansion, and made appearances on the Merv Griffin Show, The Tonight Show, CNN, and Travel Channel.
On August 26, 2010, Outside Magazine cited Ammar as the "go-to source" for magic instruction. The magazine published a list of "100 Things to Do Before You Die", and numbered 45 as "Learn a magic trick"—suggesting studying with the master, Michael Ammar.
