He is also the co-founder of Insight Venture Partners, a venture capital firm. Murdock was born on February 21, 1968 in Cooperstown, New York. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. After college, he worked as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. In 1995, Murdock co-founded Insight Venture Partners, a venture capital firm that has invested in over 300 companies, including Twitter, Tumblr, and Groupon. He is currently the managing director of the firm. In addition to his business career, Murdock has also appeared in several films. He made his acting debut in the 2010 film The Social Network, playing the role of venture capitalist Peter Thiel. He has since appeared in films such as Moneyball, The Internship, and The Judge. Murdock is married to his wife, Jennifer, and they have two children. He currently resides in New York City.
